Alphonse Red

Capacity:1 bottle of 75cl

A nose of incredible depth, a vintage full of elegance.

For this vintage, the harvest, which is carried out manually in the cool of the morning, marks the start of a meticulous process. The exclusive plots, carefully selected for this wine, display a yield of 30 hl/ha. Gravity work and careful sorting on a vibrating table precede partial destemming, before cold pre-fermentation. Each grape variety ferments separately, in concrete vats and in barrels, under temperature control. After several weeks of post-fermentation maceration, the wines are drained and pressed. Malolactic fermentation, which softens the wine by reducing its acidity and providing rounder, creamier aromas and texture. then takes place in 225L barrels, followed by refined maturation for 18 to 22 months.

Sulphites: This wine contains sulphites in very limited quantities less than 30mg/L.

Bottling: This wine is produced and bottled in the heart of the Luberon in our Domaine in Lauris.

Consumption of alcoholic beverages during pregnancy, even in small quantities, can have serious consequences on the health of the child.

Intense aromas of cherry and blackcurrant, evolving towards jammy and kirsch nuances

Tasting notes

Intense red color.
Syrah transports us with its peppery aromas. Black cherry and young blackcurrant berries take part in the journey. The cherry remains present from the attack, the evolution of the kirsch and jam notes indicates the potential of this wine.
Elegance is in the spotlight here. Great promise of longevity.

Food & Wine Pairings

FAQs

Do your wines contain sulphites?

Our wines contain sulphites, which are naturally present in wine to protect against oxidation and help guarantee the good stability of our wines. The quantity of sulphites present in our wines is nevertheless very limited, remaining below 30mg/L in each of our wines, when the legal framework authorizes the presence of sulphites up to 200mg/L. Our wines therefore do not give a headache for people sensitive to this molecule.

Are your wines organic?

Yes, we are very proud to claim our certification in organic farming for over 10 years. The transition of our vines was initiated by Frédérique Biousse and Guillaume Foucher following their acquisition of Domaine de Fontenille in 2013 and was carried out gently because the older generations of Fontenille winegrowers were already kind to their land.

Do you produce sweet wines?

We do not produce sweet or sweet wines at Domaine de Fontenille. The wine profiles are rather dry and tense, in keeping with the expression of our limestone and mineral terroir.

Do you produce varietal wines?

We have chosen to focus on the history of the appellation. We believe that respecting the region's tradition of blending several grape varieties is the way to go. This brings complexity to our wines for the greatest pleasure of your taste buds.
